The Future of A to B, moderated by Tuck Professor Ramon Lecuona, will discuss the future of commuting and feature Motor Trend Editor-in-Chief Edward Loh, YouTube sensation and carsandbids.com founder Doug DeMuro, and The Fast Lane Truck Managing Editor Andre Smirnov.
Our discussion will center around what commuting will look like in the future. Will we continue to own cars? How will commuting look like in cities, suburbs, and the countryside? How will new technologies change our relationship with the automobile? What will this mean for automotive enthusiasts? Our panelists will bring their unique viewpoints and experiences to this conversation and give us a glimpse at what the future of A to B will look like. We look forward to seeing you there!

Join the Revers Center for Energy, the Tuck Africa Club, and The Irving Institute on Wednesday, February 24th, 12 p.m. (EST) as we discuss the smart energy policy that Africa needs to grow and fight Climate Change with Rose Mutiso in the second edition of the Made in Africa Speaker Series. She will discuss Africa’s expected growth that will be underpinned by a massive increase in the continent’s energy usage. But, the current spate of climate adaptation strategies threatens the energy supply required to power that growth. For Africa to fulfill its ambition as the next global market and mitigate the dire consequences of Climate Change, it will need more energy, not less.
Meet Rose Mutiso
Rose M. Mutiso is the Research Director for the Energy for Growth Hub and co-founder and CEO of the Mawazo Institute, which supports the next generation of female scholars and thought leaders in East Africa. Previously, Rose was a Senior Fellow in the Office of International Climate and Clean Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), where she led DOE’s engagement on technology and policy dimensions of energy access in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Prior to this, she served as an Energy and Innovation Policy Fellow in the office of U.S. Senator Christopher A. Coons, where she authored several pieces of legislation that were signed into law by President Barack Obama. She earned her BA and BE in Engineering Sciences with a concentration in Materials Science from Dartmouth College, and her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Join the Revers Center for Energy, the Center for Business, Government & Society and the Tuck Sustains Club for a discussion with Alex Kremer T'16, Director of Worn Wear, Tin Shed Ventures, and Corporate Development at Patagonia. He will share his career path from Tuck to Patagonia and his various projects at Patagonia that focus on building a regenerative economy. The goal of these initiatives is to not just to build a sustainable business, rather a regenerative business that has a net positive social and environmental impact. Alex’s role across Tin Shed Ventures (Patagonia’s environmentally and socially focused venture capital arm), Worn Wear (refurbishing and re-selling used Patagonia products), and corporate development offers him unique access across Patagonia’s environmentally- and socially-focused efforts. Alex will discuss the regenerative economy broadly, as well as consumer retail’s role in being kinder to our planet.

Alex is a Corporate Development & Investment Principal at Patagonia and Tin Shed Ventures. Alex works on Patagonia's investment, innovation, and other strategic initiatives, including Patagonia's used gear business, Worn Wear (wornwear.com) and external projects, such as Regenerative Organic Certification.Tin Shed Ventures invests in responsible startups with innovations that help Patagonia build the best product while causing the least amount of environmental harm. The Tin Shed portfolio includes a wide range of startups, such as Bureo, Tersus Solutions, NuMat Technologies, and Revolution Fibres. Tin Shed Ventures has invested in more than a dozen startups on 3 continents. Prior to Patagonia & Tin Shed Ventures, Alex held various investment roles received degrees from Boston College (BA in Math & Economics) and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College (MBA).
