Tuck’s Revers Center for Energy will be coordinating a trip to the 15th Annual Energy Symposium: Competing for Energy Capital. The theme will offer three tracks focused on Innovation, Convergence, and Transformation. Participants will be part of 500+ energy business leaders, policy makers, academics, and students participating in a day of keynote speakers, panels, business plan pitches, and networking.

201 Workshop: Energy Project Finance with Jon Fouts T’92, Morgan Stanley

This workshop will be an interactive opportunity for participants to learn firsthand how energy project finance is a current tool for financing specific types of energy projects. The workshop will aim to cover:

• What is project finance?
• Who is involved in project finance and what is a typical project finance structure?
• What are the financing options for a project?
• Why use project finance?

Jon Fouts is a Managing Director in the Global Power & Utility Group within the Investment Banking Division at Morgan Stanley. In addition to covering a number of the corporate power clients, Mr. Fouts is responsible for the alternative investor, independent developer and wind / renewable business. Having joined Morgan Stanley in 1995, he has held numerous positions in the company and covered a number of the company’s important corporate and financial clients. Mr. Fouts has extensive experience in advising a wide variety of clients in landmark mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and capital markets issues. Mr. Fouts’ academic background includes an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth and an A.B. (Economics and Political Science) magna cum laude, Bowdoin College.

Frank Curran and the FinTech Club will host a 101 level workshop for students who want to learn more about blockchain, cryptocurrency and the applications in the energy industry. The areas this workshop are aiming to cover are:

• What are the applications that blockchain could have in various industries? 
• How could blockchain impact the energy industry? 
• What role does cryptocurrency in energy blockchain?

Case Competition: UT Austin Energy Finance Challenge

The 2018 University of Texas Austin Energy Finance challenge will take place on 19-20 October at the McCombs School of Business. Around 16 teams from the country’s top MBA programs will present their solutions to panels of senior executives representing multiple facets of the energy finance landscape.
