Visit to Covanta Haverhill Resource Recovery Facility
The Revers Center for Energy is excited to sponsor a visit to the Haverhill Resource Recovery Facility which is located on a 147-acre area in Haverhill, MA. The facility processes 1,650 tons per day of solid waste, generating up to 49 megawatts of renewable energy.

The Haverhill Resource Recovery Facility processes 1,650 tons per day of solid waste, generating up to 49 megawatts of renewable energy.The facility is equipped with a ferrous and non-ferrous metal recycling system and an air-cooled condenser that condenses turbine exhaust.
The trip will include a tour and discussion from the plant business manager, operations manager, environmental specialist and the plant engineer. Space is limited!

Dartmouth Energy Collaborative Lunch & Learn
Professor Ian Baker, Sherman Fairchild Professor of Engineering, Senior Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Programs will talk about his research project on "High-Performance Nickel-Iron (NiFe) Permanent Magnetics for Electric Motors and Turbines." Professor Baker is a recipient of an Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society mini-grant.

Visiting Speaker: Professor Tracy Bach
Professor Tracy Bach, Professor of Law, and Adviser for the 2019 Climate Change Ecosystem Deep Dive for the Center for Business, Government and Society and Revers Center for Energy led a group of nine Tuck students to COP25 in Madrid, Spain (originally schedule to be in Santiago, Chile). This post-conference debrief session will enable students to travelled to Madrid understand and reflect on the outcomes of the conference.

Professor Tracy Bach, Professor of Law, and Adviser for the 2019 Climate Change Ecosystem Deep Dive for the Center for Business, Government and Society and Revers Center for Energy, led a group of nine Tuck students to COP25 in Madrid, Spain. The Conference of Parties or COP is the treaty body that meets annually to review and refine the parties’ actions and obligations. COP25, which took place December 2019, was a critical meeting in the short history of the Paris Agreement because parties needed to finalize the Agreement’s implementation rules before 2020. Tracy led a pre-departure presentation on "The Business of Sustainable Development and Treaty Negotiation at COP25 where she discussed the challenges that needed to be overcome to achieve the goals. During the post-conference debrief, Tracy will help students who were only able to attend parts of the COP to translate the results of the conference into tangible outcomes.

Dartmouth Heating/Electricity Cogeneration Plant Tour
The Dartmouth Energy Alliance (Dartmouth undergraduate energy club) is organizing a visit to the campus cogeneration plant. The plant has been based at the same site since 1898. It operates full-time to provide heat, electricity, hot water, and some air conditioning throughout campus. This visit takes you through the control room, the boiler room, and even visits the turbine generator and underground steam tunnels!
